Supporting a meaningful cause doesn’t have to end during your lifetime. Thoughtful estate planning can allow you to extend your values, create a legacy, and provide valuable support for an organization you care about. Here are ways you could include LFPD in your estate plan:

• A bequest in your will is a simple and common method of giving through an estate plan. You could designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, a specific asset such as real estate or securities, or your residuary estate, after other bequests are distributed. Bequests can be flexible, revocable, and easy to update.
   
• A beneficiary designation can be a powerful tool. You could name LFPD as a full or partial beneficiary of a retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b), etc.), a life insurance policy, or a bank or investment account, via a “payable on death designation. With retirement assets, this approach could create significant tax savings.
   
• A charitable trust could allow you to support LFPD while also meeting personal financial goals and realizing tax saving. A charitable remainder trust could provide income to you or another beneficiary for life or a term of years, with the remainder passing to LFPD. A charitable lead trust could pay income to LFPD first, with the remainder passing to your heirs.
   
• You could donate real estate, artwork, collectibles or other tangible or intangible property. These donations might require advance planning and coordination with LFPD, but they can create a substantial impact.
   
• If you want your support to continue indefinitely, you could establish an endowment through your will or trust. This would allow LFPD to invest the principal and use the income for ongoing support of LFPD’s mission.
